Welcome to the Dublin Writing Clinic, where you can find help for your broken sentences, disjointed paragraphs and the ailments of your longer pieces of writing.

In the different rooms of the clinic, you will find:

  • information about my full writing course, where you can learn to apply the nuts and bolts of sentence and paragraph construction to composing
  • editing services for academic, personal and business writing
  • access to my book:  How to Write: Tools for the Craft
  • articles on the writing problem that has beset our culture for the past 40 years
  • tips and blogs about trouble-spots in writing
There are several wonderful creative writing teachers and courses all around Ireland. Alternatively, here you will find the perennial skills that underpin accomplished writing, what was traditionally known as an ‘applied grammar’. Of course, grammar doesn’t teach a person to write. Rather, an applied grammar provides the much needed tools for the writing craft, much as the terms and skills of music guide skilful composition in that art form.

The craft of writing branches into both art and function; the same set of skills underlies both. No matter what occasion of writing looms before you, the Dublin Writing Clinic courses will provide you with the skills that professional writers have counted their stock-in-trade for generations.
